Ferrate Technology

Ferrate (VI) is known to be a strong oxidant and an effective coagulant for water and wastewater treatments. It is effective for treat ment of water containing various nitrogen- and sulphur- contaminants. It also has a high efficacy for microbial disinfection and control of bio-fouling. However, its application in the water industry is limited owing mainly to its short life-span due to instability of the chemical. Kytoland has developed a prototype ferrate generator capable of producing 100-200 g of ferrate (VI) per hour. With the machine installed on-site, ferrate (VI) can be produced and applied directly and instantly for water treatment, thereby overcoming the problem of instability.
