Ferrate (VI)
Ferrate (VI), a stable form of ferrate (VI) salt, is scientifically developed for use as an effective oxidant and coagulant for water and wastewater treatments. Due to its strong oxidizing potential and simultaneous generation of ferric coagulating species, ferrate (VI) could be applied in the water industry with the following effects:
Oxidation: degrades and/or oxidises organic and inorganic impurities
Coagulant: removes suspended solids and colloidal particulate materials
Disinfection: disinfects micro-organisms including virus and bacteria
Ferrate generator
Despite its wide range of potential applications, the use of ferrate (VI) in the water industry is limited due to its instability and the high price of the stable form. To overcome these problems, Kytoland has jointly developed a prototype ferrate generator capable of producing 100-200 g of ferrate (VI) per hour to facilitate production of ferrate on-site, which can then be applied directly and instantly for water treatment. The ferrate generator will be available in the market in six months. |
